If you like your men scruffy, well bearded and cuddly, then look no further than Ruffles. Ruffles came to us from a rural NSW pound and he has been learning all about Sydney life and taking everything in his stride. Ruffles has had a big haircut since coming into care as he was very matted, so we have added some photos of when he first arrived to show any potential families his scruff potential as grooming will be required to keep his luscious locks gorgeous. Please note he is a scruffy wire haired dog, we know his fresh haircut makes him look like a well pampered oodle of some sort; but this is not the case and he is not hypoallergenic. Ruffles sits at a perfect size of 20kg.
Ruffles is currently in care with 2 adults and a large breed adult female dog. He has been heading out into the big wide world and adores everyone he meets. He is a very affectionate dog and would love to find a home where he will receive plenty of pats, cuddles and hopefully a couch cuddle or two! He loves playing with the resident dog – zoomies, tug and bitey face are all on the cards. Ruffles had a week long stay in temporary care with a male Aussie shepherd on property and thoroughly enjoyed his time there too! Ruffles has been introduced to some other dogs out and about and he is always friendly, however can become a little overwhelmed by new dogs who are ill mannered, so at this point in time prefers play dates with friends dogs, rather than dog park type situations. He will be fine to go to a home with another friendly, playful dog or two or as an only dog. Regardless of whether her family has another dog, he will need a home with someone home more often than not during the settling in period, but he has shown to be ok to be left alone two days a week so far with another dog at home.
Ruffles has met some kids and has been fantastic with them, so will be fine to live in a home with dog savvy children. He has also been brushing up on some basic training and is a very eager learner. He is learning his sits, stays and comes and really enjoys spending time with his people learning new tricks. He does still zig zag a bit on leash to smell all the smells, but is not a huge puller and is improving every day. He travels well in the car and sleeps through the night on a bed in his carer’s room…did someone say dream dog? He can get a little nervous with very loud noises on walks as it’s all new to him, but he takes it all in his stride and hardly misses a beat! He is not a barker, but can sometimes bark for extra attention if he wants cuddles or playtime. His carers have been showing him this isn’t the way to get cuddles and he is learning quickly. His new owners should be committed to continuing his basic training to ensure he continues to be a wonderful canine companion.
Ruffles is looking for a family who can provide him with daily physical and mental stimulation and take him on many fun adventures. His carer describes him as easy going and the perfect family dog and he would love to become your best friend and go to the beach, on bush walks and other fun outings together. While he is not high energy at all, we are not looking for a home where someone wants to do a quick walk around the block after work finishes and call it a day. We are looking for dedicated owners who will ensure Ruffles is given a wonderfully fulfilling life full of adventures, love and fun.
Ruffles will need a home with a yard where he is allowed inside as part of the family, be provided with ongoing socialisation and training, and fed a fantastic quality diet. He needs a warm bed inside at night and to be allowed to join in on the family’s day to day life. In return this gorgeous boy will give you many years of love and laughter.
