Our special girl Elodie is a dog you just cannot go past. This wonderful young dog found herself in a rural NSW facility heavily pregnant at just a year old. She is very lucky to have found her way to our network of very caring rescuers and we made sure that we made her feel safe while she gave birth to 4 beautiful healthy babies. Despite all that she had been through and then making the long trip to Sydney, Elodie always showed us what a friendly and beautiful natured girl she was. One of the truly special ones that take your heart.
Elodie has made so many friends while in foster care. She gives everyone she comes across the waggy tail treatment, and she loves getting pats and attention. In the evenings, she loves nothing more than a good snuggle session on the couch with her foster carer. True to her breed type, she is a loving a loyal companion ready for whatever you are up for. During the day, one of Elodie’s favourite past times is finding the perfect spot for a good sun bake.
While in foster care, Elodie has been living with a number of other adult dogs. She enjoys playing and hanging out with her doggy friends. Elodie plays true to her working breed type. She loves to jump around, throw in a teasing play bow and run off for a game of chase. Elodie would do great in a home with another friendly and easy going working breed type who would enjoy having some playtime with her.
Elodie has proved to be a good girl around the home. She is not destructive nor a nuisance barker. She has been exposed to all the general home things like vacuum cleaners and lawn mowers and is unperturbed. Elodie is food motivated and will sit for a treat. She is learning not to jump up when excited still so is best suited to an adult only home or one with confident and dog savvy children. Elodie enjoys going on car rides, often riding shotgun, particularly if it means she gets to go out and make some new friends. She is toilet trained and progressing well with her crate training as well.
Typical of her breed type, she is intelligent and a good learner. She has even had a look at some sheep and would definitely be able to participate in herding classes with you if you were so inclined. She is also an athletic style of dog so could be adaptable to many types of activities or just enjoy going on a nice long walk with you.
Elodie should be allowed inside the home to be with the family and will need a warm bed inside to sleep on at night. She can live with another friendly dog or as an only dog if her owners are home more often than not. Elodie’s new owners will need to be committed to continuing her training and happy to get her out and about regularly for some exercise. Elodie is currently 18kg and her puppies have been weaned. After being such a wonderful mum to her puppies, it’s now Elodie’s turn to be spoilt and doted on. In return, she will give you so much love back and be a wonderful companion and sidekick in your life.
